Community Singing
I facilitate three ongoing singing groups on and near Gumbaynggirr land. Each group uses ear-learning approaches: songs are taught through repetition, harmonies develop organically, and no prior experience or sheet music is required.
The groups differ in focus and participant community, but share a common methodology and underlying purpose, creating sustained spaces where people can experience the documented individual and collective benefits of singing together.

The Bellingen Singers
Founded in 2021, The Bellingen Singers is a drop-in community choir that has grown from 9 to over 150 casual members. The group meets weekly on Wednesday evenings at St Andrew’s, Bellingen, and welcomes participants of all backgrounds and experience levels without audition. The repertoire draws from local and global musical traditions.
Beyond individual wellbeing outcomes, including stress reduction, improved mood, and enhanced memory and concentration, the choir functions as a site of community infrastructure, building intergenerational connection and sustaining social support networks. Members occasionally lend their collective voice to initiatives promoting peace and social justice. Sessions run by donation.
Harmonia Singing Circle
Harmonia meets monthly on a Saturday morning at Sol Collective in Coffs Harbour. Founded in 2024, the circle has grown to a community of over 100 people.
Participants learn simple song loops and harmonies by ear, discovering through practice how readily voices can blend without formal instruction. The format is accessible to anyone regardless of musical background or confidence.
MotherSong
MotherSong is a perinatal singing circle for mothers and pregnant people, running in Bellingen since 2023. The group draws on specialist training with UK organisation Singing Mamas and applies trauma-informed approaches aligned with NHS Wellbeing frameworks.
Singing together during the perinatal period supports nervous system regulation, provides space for emotional expression, and builds peer connection during a time that can bring significant isolation. Songs learned in the circle can be sung to infants and young children at home.
Sessions run in 5-week terms on Wednesday mornings. No singing experience is necessary.
